Sewing used to be a huge part of society. It was a skill that most people were taught so that they could mend a pair of pants or create a dress.

Although people in the last few generations lost interest in the craft, it seems as though it is becoming popular once again.

I don’t mean to start off by scolding you like your grandmother or mother would, but sewing is an essential skill that is quickly dying off with the new generations.  Girls (and boys) should have a basic understanding of how to sew something – by hand and/or by machine.

The Idol Makes My Day

One of my biggest inspirations, Mandi Line, made my day today.  If you don’t know who Mandi is, she is a fashion designer/stylist, and is most commonly known as the Head of Costume for Pretty Little Liars.

Red carpet.  Bright lights.  Cameras clicking away.

A bit glamorous, isn’t it?  And how jealous do you get every time you see your favorite celebrities strutting down the red carpet in their designer dresses and outfits with the most perfect hairstyle and make up ever?!  Isn’t it so unfair how absolutely flawless they can be?

Past Influences to Inspire All

Fashion is something that is regenerated through the years, bringing something new and memorable for that era’s style.  Admittedly enough, some of the fashion from the 2000s is currently being frowned upon.  (I mean, dresses over jeans?  Really?  Cringe-worthy!)  Old styles leave people to think one of two things: “How?  Why?  What?  Gross!” or “Why isn’t this a thing now?  I think I grew up in the wrong generation…”  I concur.  I wish that I had grown up in the nineties; I would have left the house everyday looking like I had just left the set of Clueless.  Every single day.

Finding the Right Song

Fashion is like a song.  Everyone messes up the lyrics and put in their own words.  They will take the song and transpose it into their own style, a genre that they’re familiar with, and lyrics that they can relate to more.  They’ll make parodies of the song, changing it in every way to make it more entertaining or fun, in their eyes.  They’ll become inspired by that song and write one similar to it.  And that’s just how fashion is.  Everyone has their own style and change styles to fit their own.  They are inspired by other people’s style and make a parody of that style.  Fashion and music are basically the same, in some ways.

As many of you have most likely already heard, yesterday on August 11th, 2014, one of the world’s most talented and hilarious actors passed away. Robin Williams was a household name that made everyone laugh, no matter the age. We will forever remember him for his humor, talent, and kind nature.
