“Sewing is, Like, So 18th Century”: The Counterargument ♡

I don’t mean to start off by scolding you like your grandmother or mother would, but sewing is an essential skill that is quickly dying off with the new generations.  Girls (and boys) should have a basic understanding of how to sew something – by hand and/or by machine. Instagram on Point

Now before I begin, I am in no way trying to say that I am by any means some sort of professional photographer, nor that I have a million likes on my Instagram photos.  This is just to help give you some tips that I’ve picked up through my still-progressing editing skills that I thought might be helpful to you.  Continue reading “Instagram on Point”

Seeing the Theatre From Both Sides

Imagine a dancer switching her ballet and tap shoes for a soccer ball, and vice versa.  Do you think that a plié across the soccer field could win the game?  Could a soccer kick make a dance routine far more graceful?  Perhaps that a little too drastic, but what if an actor decided to start working back stage?  That’s exactly what I chose to do, and I couldn’t have been more excited for the opportunity. Little Mix: Revolutionizing Feminism

The new craze is feminism and girl power.  Is it being over-commercialized?  There was a time- not too long ago- when people referred to feminism as “the f word”, but now “feminism” is clearly printed all over headlines in the media.  Honestly, who cares whether it’s becoming over-commercialized, as some have been saying.  The fact that females are finally taking a stand and turning “girl power” into headlines all over magazines, blogs, and websites is revolutionary, and we should be proud. Finally A Doll That Girls Can Aspire to be Just Like

The media impacts people in every single form that it can possibly think of, including the dolls that young girls (and boys) play with.  In 1959, Ruth Handler introduced to the world the first Barbie doll.  Since then, the Barbie doll has evolved so much with its look, and has been brought through the doors of kid’s bedrooms, including mine.  Personally, I must have had about a hundred Barbie dolls between my sister and I, and while I was playing with those dolls, it never once crossed my mind how those dolls were effecting me or my sister.
